Auburn University

Laura Sellers Perdue

This past summer, I interned for the Auburn University Office of Communications and Marketing (OCM). While there I had the opportunity to research, write, and edit articles. During this time, I was able to strengthen my writing skills through the plethora of articles I wrote. I also had the opportunity to write several feature articles that were featured on Auburn's homepage.

I tried to stay up to date on what was happening around campus to create story ideas. Once I came up with my article topic, I would then reach out to possible prospects asking if I could interview them for my story. I conducted phone, email, and in-person interviews.

I recorded each interview and transcribed them after to ensure I did not misquote my subjects. I also edited my articles and other members of the OCM articles weekly. I was able to strengthen my grammar and AP Style knowledge by doing so.

Given the opportunity to write about topics I was interested in was an amazing experience. I learned how much I enjoyed to write and tell people's stories. To view some of my published work, click the links below.
