The research presented in this case was conducted for a course titled "Public Relations Case Studies."
This is a course designed to provide public relations students with an understanding of both effective and ineffective methods of PR through studying actual cases from the field itself.
The topic I chose for my case study was Tom Brady's Deflate-Gate scandal. In 2015, Tom Brady and the New England Patriots were accused of deflating footballs prior to their game with the Indianapolis Colts for the AFC Championship. On January 18, 2015, soon after the Patriots defeated the Colts, reports started to surface that the National Football League was looking into the Patriots’ use of “deflated footballs.”
I decided to look how Brady, the Patriots, and the National Football League handled the situation from a public relations standpoint. I went through the timeline of events after the scandal and examined how the Patriots and Brady responded. To summarize, the Patriots nor Brady handled the situation well based on my opinion and expertise. To learn more about my case study, click the link below.
