Kentucky Derby

The research presented in this media kit was conducted for a course titled "Multimedia Writing for Public Relations." This course is designed with an emphasis on communication tactics; planning, writing, and producing public relations tools; audience and media selection; and print and electronic media.

The Kentucky Derby is a horse race held every year on the first Saturday of May at Churchill Downs Racetrack in Louisville, Kentucky. The Derby begins with the Kentucky Derby Festival, which lasts for two weeks preceding the race. The festival is Kentucky’s largest single annual event, drawing 1.5 million people to the Bluegrass State.

I chose to write about the Kentucky Derby because it is an event I find interesting and one I watch each year. My media kit includes a backgrounder, staff biographies, a news release, a video news release, and photo cutlines on the 2017 Kentucky Derby.
